Small Talk… A Time Killer

I have been teaching for over a decade and there is one thing that I always wish I had more of in the school day and that is TIME! There are many demands on teachers and many of those deliverables take time and having small talk with colleagues about things that don’t support students and complaining sessions kills your time and impacts you emotionally. I would advise during your free periods and your lunch take this time to relax or work on a priority item or simply relax for a few moments. Protect your free moments and try and eliminate small talk that is not productive. This could mean covering windows and not answering your door. It’s not rude it’s just a version of protecting your peace.
