Let me start by saying, I am cognizant of the Covid-19 pandemic that has impacted us all in one way or another and yes no one is exempt. As an educator, and the process of commencing the first day of school has been different. Educators are resilient and adaptable so online instruction is a component that we ultimately will master despite the changes we face. I personally embrace change which has been the story of my life.
What is hard to adapt to is not seeing the smiling faces of the scholars, the kids playing at recess, live staff meetings with all of us in the same room and the pure hustle and bustle of a “normal” school day just to name a few. There is nothing to replace the excitement of accomplishment on a scholar’s face. I miss the connection component; I have a tough time showing my passion and receiving passion through a computer screen. There is one great thing that I do know, our “new normal” will end and we will eventually have some sense of “normalcy.”
